Research from the Harvard Medical School has revealed that regular consumption of strawberries reduces the risk of a heart attack. Furthermore, the 18-year study concentrated on young women and traced how often they ate certain foods. After adjusting for several factors, researchers have found that participants who had the most strawberries and blueberries were 34 percent less likely to undergo a heart attack than participants who consumed the least.

Also, there appeared to be no large disparity between those who consumed tons of strawberries and those who ate them on a moderately regular basis. Therefore, eating three or more servings of strawberries or blueberries a week appeared to be the magic number in terms of obtaining benefits.

Strawberries are high in dietary fiber. Dietary fiber improves the weight and size of your stool and softens it. A bulky stool is more comfortable to pass, reducing your chance of constipation. If you have loose, watery stools, fiber may support to thicken the stool because it absorbs water and adds bulk to the stool. Further, it helps maintain bowel health.

According to the Mayo Clinic, fiber improves bowel movements, reduce cholesterol levels, regulate blood sugar, sustain bowel health and achieve a healthy weight. The Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health says that fiber appears to reduce the risk of diabetes, cardiovascular disease heart disease.
