BMI is the calculation that takes into account the height and weight of the person. It is the calculation of your size. Now, the question is, Is your BMI a good indicator of your health or not. Though, it is not the perfect indicator it is still a useful starting point.
The following are the situations in which BMI matters:
Generally, a BMI of 30 and above is considered obese. Higher BMI can lead to many health problems. You can get:

- High cholesterol
- Heart problems
In many cases, people with BMI of 30 and above reported feeling better after losing excess weight.
On the other hand, here’s a situation where BMI does not matter:
BMI does not measure any presence or absence of any disease. There are many people who fall into the categories of high or low BMI and are healthy and fit. On the contrary, there are some people who have a normal BMI and are not disease-free. For instance, A person with a family history of cardiovascular death has a higher risk than a person who has high BMI but is physically fit and non-smoker.
BMI exaggerates slimness in short people. It also overstresses fatness in tall people. One of the disadvantages of BMI is that it does not consider the distribution of fat among your body.
BMI can be a useful indicator of health. However, the distribution of fat is not considered in it. Moreover, it cannot differentiate between body fat and muscle mass.
